If you are having these thoughts, and others like them, you may be driven to the point of significant stress trying to prove yourself to others and yourself. You may be "turning yourself inside out", to please the people in your life and end up exhausted.

The type of therapy I do; Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), in a very skilled manner, helps you get to the core of why you are experiencing these negative thoughts. I can then help you change them into positive thoughts that you just don't know at a thinking level, but know in your heart and gut to be true. Families can deal with lots of challenges. A mental health issue generally affects one’s entire family. When problems arise, whether it is seen in one family member or between two or more members, the whole family is affected. During family therapy we focus on changes within a family, and try to recognize that family relationships have impacts on feelings, behaviors, and psychological adjustments for every family member. Therapy may focus on such matters as conflict resolution, communication across generations, care giving, and coping with change.

As a trained marriage and family therapist, I have experience working with families. I help parents take back control of their adolescents and families. I listen and observe what appears to be going on individually and between members of your family to find out what changes need to be made by each family member so the family can be a place of respect, acceptance, where the different views, opinions, ambitions, desires and wishes of members are supported and honored by a strong parental unit. The goal of family therapy is for each member of the family to be healthy, and in turn, allow the family unit to feel emotionally connected, possibly for the first time.
