NEW * - Ramano's Macroni Grill - Rio Center - Gaithersburg, MD -Dinner- 11/2010
We eat out weekly and we like to frequent local restraunts. During a recent visit to Macroni Grill (Rio), we found the food to be of poor quality and portions to be small. Service was OK. Will not go back as there are too many good restraunts in the area to select from. My rating of "ONE" star was a forced choice as NO star wasn't an option. ...BS
NEW *** - Biscotti Ristorante Italiano - 7212 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855 - 4/6/10
- Dinner
This is a real GEM. It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice set up, napkins nicely folded, pleasant staff. Great menu choices. The simple house salad was excellent due to perfect use of some balsamic vinegar. We both tried the special, Pasta Napolitano, it was great and very reasonably priced. Don't miss out on a great little Italian gem. Go visit Biscotti Ristorante Italiano. ...KB

NEW - **** -Outta the Way Cafe - Derwood, MD - Redland Shopping Center - July 3, 2010 - Dinner
I first found out about Outta the Way Cafe during football season. As a transplanted Pittsurgher, I was delighted to find that they showed Steelers games during the season. But my wife and I eat there because of the home-style food, relaxed atmosphere, and neat decor (lots of stained and bubbled glass and b&w photos). On our most recent visit, I had the wings and she had the ribs. Service is friendly, food is dependably good, and atmosphere is great. Just don't go during a Steelers game, unless you're a Black & Gold fan. The place gets packed then and people get turned away. ...DK

NEW **** - Guapo's - The RIO, Gaithersburg - Lunch/Dinner - Many times
I have been eating a Guapo's for many years. I love their food and the atmosphere. The servers, food runners and busers are always very pleasant and professional. I don't recall ever having a bad experience there. I have brought friends there who've said it is one of the best (if not the best) Mexican restaurant they have ever been to. I hope that you will add their name to the list of restaurant options in the Gaithersburg/Germantown area. ...ER
NEW **** - Italian Pines - Lost
Knife Rd Off Price Center - Gaithersburg, MD. - DINNER - March 7, 2008
Italian Pines offers excellent food at very reasonable prices! Friends
of ours recommended the restaurant. We had passed by it on several occasions.
Nothing fancy on the outside or on the inside, but wow, what a hidden
gem! I dined on a generous order of Rockfish, simply done- superb (make
sure you tell them you how you want your fish or it will come with head
and all). My wife raved about the Eggplant Parmigiana and has now proclaimed
it her favorite. Ceasar Salad was hearty as was our white bean soup,
delicious! Our server was friendly and quick. Italian Pines was a great
recommendation, what a pleasant surprise! We will definately go back.

NEW ****+ - Rustic Oven, Germantown, 18301 Leeman Farm Road, 8/16/08, dinner
A good friend gave us a gift certificate to the Rustic Oven. What a fabulous surprice. The bread served to start is an incredible homemade foccacia served with basil infused oil. As an Appetizer we chose to split an Antipasto Rustico which is a combination of Calamari Fritti, Mozzarella Caprese and Bruschetta. The Calamari was just perfectly fried and the Bruschetta was just excellent.
For entre' we both decided on a house special veal dish consisting of veal cutlets served with an incredible creamy mushroom sauce infused with Brandy. The chef certainly paid a lot of attention to get this sauce just right and she succeded to served a gem. We just could not resist having desert. My wife is a big Tiramisu fan and this one did not disapoint. I tried a fruit in light custard sauce. Fabulous!
If you like Italian, the Rustic Oven is a MUST try. ...KRB
NEW **** - MYTHOS Vasilis Grill - Gaithersburg - Snouffer School
Rd - 3/29/08 - dinner
We ate here for the first time (we had a coupon so decided to try it).
Restaurant staff were all extremely warm and friendly and service was great!
The food was excellent for a small neighborhood restaurant. The shrimp mythos
had a delicious tomato sauce with just the right blend of wine and sweetness.
Shrimp souvlaki was very tasty. Bought the karasomething or other dessert
(almond butter cookies with powdered sugar) and they were yummy!
What a refreshing surprise. Will definitely go back!! ...R&D F
**** - Mangiare Bene, Gaithersburg - 808 W. Diamond Ave, 5/4/08
- dinner
My Italy-born and raised mother and I (raised Italian) had dinner at
Mangiare Bene on Sunday night. If you're looking for fancy nouvelle cuisine,
this is not the place for you...but if you're looking for authetic, down to
earth traditional Italian food like in the trattorias of Italy, you will love
this place. The food was portions were generous and the taste was superb. We
each ended up taking half of our meals home because we were so full...and even
as left-overs, it was delicious. Our host, Roberto, had all the charm of
typical Italy. Mom couldn't stop raving about how good and genuine the food
was. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also inviting as a cozy place to dine
with family and friends. Having grown up 'Italian' and having spent so much
time in Italy, I love that I finally found a small slice of 'real Italy' here in
Maryland. ... DS
**** - Amada Amante - 9755 Traville Gateway Drive Rockville,
Md 20850 - Dinner - November 1st, 2007
Having moved into Potomac recently we were looking for a decent
restaurant with a varied menu and relaxed elegance for those nights when a quick
meal at home is to much work.
We know of various other restaurants in the area, but were told to pay this one
a visit on the recommendation of a friend.
And we were not disappointed.
The menu has a very nice variety of appetizers, entrées, and a wonderful
assortment of desserts. You can dine at the bar, which we chose to do as the
restaurant was packed to the rafters with a special evening devoted to a prix
fixe dinner to market a wine producers latest products.
At first we were reluctant as we had wanted to sit, but not having had
reservations beforehand we decided to stay.
The bartender was part sommelier, part butler, part host. He was briskly
getting drink orders prepared for the restaurant patrons but nonetheless
maintained a poised and effortless demeanor and attended to our every whim and
desire in short order. One of the owner's himself, Jeremy, stopped by to greet
us and welcome us to the restaurant and made us feel special.
I opted for a "simple" pizza which is offered on their bar menu having spied a
fellow diner devouring his.
My partner had a peppered steak which I tasted. The meat was succulent,
perfectly cooked at medium rare and served with home made mashed potatoes. To
die for!
They have an extensive list of wines. Being a Pinot Noir fan myself and my wife
a lover of Italian Chiantis we had two glasses of each. The wine was fresh (not
as happens all too often that it has been "breathing" for a week and seems more
suited to adding to a salad as vinegar.
We met another lovely couple who are regulars there and who make it their weekly
date restaurant. In the end we exchanged numbers and have decided to meet at
Amada every Friday evening.
I suppose this speaks to the friendly, happy and non-stuffiness of
the place. We plan on returning this evening. It is refreshing to find
a place that doesn't cut corners in service nor food. ...RP
***** - Golden Bull Grande Cafe -
7 Dalamar St, Gaithersburg, MD. - Lunch & Dinner - Many times -
11/26/07
This restaurant is consistently serves some of
the best food I've had, no matter what the selection or occasion. I've even
gotten one of those "free dinner" seminars here, and it (the food, that is) was
delightful. As the name suggests, they have beef, but they have much more - a
varied menu of more of less "American" cuisine. And the plush decor creates a
pleasant and quiet ambiance. Its a winner. ....JG

Great!!! Family owned bakery in KENTLANDS, a MOST TRY!!!. I recently

and pasteries so soft, moist and delicious. They also serve up great
unusual wraps and sandwichs, like the tandoori wrap, which you most

***** - Hershey's - 17030 Oakmont
Ave - Washington Grove(Across RR tracks), Gaithersburg, MD. - Dinner
- Many times (11/28/06)
I have to admit that I adjusted my rating to account for the
price. This is not fine dining, but down-to-earth American style home cooking
in a rustic setting. TV sets provide entertainment. When a train passes by,
you'll know it. But once you discover this place, you are more likely to eat
here than anywhere, because for less than $10 you can get a full meal. Service
is relaxed and very friendly. The bar is popular with local groups. Families
and seniors especially like the low prices for a solid menu. There are several
specials every night of the week, and they vary. Its not fancy, but this is
where you'll want to go if you just want dinner and don't feel like cooking.

**** - Madras Palace - 74 Bureau
Drive, Gaithersburg, MD - Dinner - July 27, 2007
It has always been a great dining experience at Madras Palace. If
someone looking for a high quality, authentic Indian vegetarian food, it is the
place in DC metro area. There is couple of other good Indian vegetarian
restaurants in the area but in my view by far this is the best! For the quality
of the food price is very nominal. Flaky paratha, crispy vada and flavorful
chana and curries topped with cilantro leaves are really mouthwatering! One has
to go for their buffet and will be overwhelmed with their variety! Their
recently introduced Chinese Indian food is a real sizzling combination! Indeed,
this is what made me write this review…
The ambiance and especially middle elevated area with cushion back seats gives you a feeling of first class/business class seating in airplanes. I
often see them busy and that speaks to the quality of the food they serve! One
amazing thing I noticed in this restaurant is even when the restaurant is full,
you still enjoy a quiet and comfortable seating because there is ample of space
and highly spread out seating!
No wonder why this restaurant is highly popular among Indian restaurants in
this area! .....AM
**** Mi Peru - 18216 Flower Hill Way,
Gaithersbur, Md -
11-12-07 - Lunch
I went to Mi Peru for the first time last week and I loved the food
and the authenticity of the food as well, I had the "chupe" and it was
delicious, it had shrimp and potato chunks and corn and many other things
that gave it a special flavor. My friend who went with me had the famous
rostisserie chicken and she let me try some and I could see why it was
famous, it was juicy, tender, adn flavorfull especially with the green
hotsauce that tastes home-made. I would recomend to anyone who is willing
to try something different, yet delicious food. But not only is the
food delicious it is also affordable. So if you are up for it go try
some food from Mi Peru. ....RW
