***** - Amalfi's - 12307 Wilkins Avenue, Rockville, MD - Lunch & Dinner - Oct. and Nov 2004
Amalfi's is a cute Italian restaurant located off the beaten path in Rockville. Their service was fast and friendly, and their food was delicious (especially the White Pizza, Ossobucco, and their Chicken Parmesian). Everything came out hot, and the host (from the t.v. commercial) even stopped by to welcome us. They make many of their own desserts, and I highly recommend the homemade Chocolate Mousse, yum!.... **** Agrodolce - Milestone Center- Germantown - Dinner - July 11, 2003
The food was excellent this past visit and the service was great. Live music played every Friday (except for inclement weather). ...LW

**** Agrodolce - Milestone Center - Germantown - Dinner - January 2003

My husband and I LOVE this Italian restaurant. The food is so creative, the wine list is extensive (a little pricy though), the staff attentive.

We have enjoyed many of the standard menu items, but on our last visit we had a WONDERFUL lamb chop special with a balsamic reduction sauce. The presentation was perfect. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection.

They start you with a plate of focashia bread and dipping/chopped black olives that is just yummy. This is NOT an inexpensive place to eat out, but the food is worth it! ...LLJ

**** Ay Caramba Mexican Grill - Rockville -
12 N. Washington Street, Rockville, MD 20850 - Lunch/Dinner - 03/07/05

Upscale atmosphere, fantastic food, and almost criminally low prices. This place is a real treasure. ...AD

**** Buca di Beppo - Kentlands Center - Gaithersburg - Dinner - 04/02/03

Buca di Beppo is a FUN place for dinner. The food is better than you would think for a place that puts so much effort into atmosphere - they put just as much effort into the food. Bring a crowd - this is family-style dining, and the more the merrier - order one entree for every two diners. Don't forget to check out the bathroom - it's worth a look! ...SW

**** - Cafe Mileto - Germantown - Dinner

We always go on Monday night. They have a special on pasta dishes only $2.00 for second person. Food is excellent, reasonally priced, and service is very good. ...CR

**** - Cafe Mileto - Germantown - Dinner

Neighborhood favorite, the lunch buffet is incredible. Get there early, steaming hot mussels, salads, fabulous pastas, stone-oven baked pizza and soups all for an incredibly low price. Staff is very friendly and remembers when you return. GC

**** - Carrabba's - Dinner - January 2005
This was our first time at a Carraba's and I can't wait to go back. We had appetizers, entrees, kid's meals, and dessert and everything was great! The atmosphere was very cozy for such a large place. ...NH

**** - Carrabba's - Dinner - December 31, 2003
Food (mostly Italian) was excellent and portions were large. 4 of us split 1 appetizer and we still had trouble finishing our dinners. Large salads or delicious soup were also part of the meal. You can call 30 minutes ahead of arrival and your wait is very short. ...HY

**** - Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger! - Falls Grove Shopping Center -Dinner - January 29, 2005
We had dinner take-out from Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger one night when it was so crowded we couldn't get a table. We ordered veggie burgers and a large order of fries. We were extremely surprised how good the food was! The fries were the BEST I have ever had anywhere in my 54 years of eating fries! The veggie burger was also very good. If you go there, order a small order of fries. The small order should be enough for 2 eaters. ...FS

**** - Chris' Steakhouse - 201 E. Diamond Ave, Olde Towne Gaithersburg - Dinner - 09-15-05
The best chicken sandwhich i've had in my life. My friend had the Jambalaya and crab fritters - they were amazing. ...KL

**** - Doughboys - Kentlands - Kentlands - 251 Market St. West - Dinner - 10/07/05
Oh man, I ate at doughboys last night because of a friend's recommendation. After eating there, I guess it has become my duty to tell everyone about my experience. Without a doubt, doughboys pizza is the best pizza around. As many pizza places I have been to, I rate these guys the highest. I guess it's the combination of wood-burning oven, high quality of products they use, and the service, that's got me talking about this place. believe it or not, I'm already craving more of it. ...DK

**** - Famous Dave's - Kentlands - Lunch - July 5, 2003
Famous Daves serves great barbecue at a very reasonable price. Their ribs are sensational, and the side dishes are also excellent. (To say nothing of the yummy desserts). ...SW

**** - Flaming Pit - Gaithersburg - Dinner - May 2004
We've been to this restaurant several times and are always amazed by the food. The wait staff is very professional and attentive and the atmosphere is very nice. Prices are a bit high but basically in line with what you would expect from a nice restaurant. Don't bring the kids though. ...SL

**** - Flavors Indian Restaurant - Gaithersburg, MD ,Darnestown Road - Dinner - Feb 16, 2006
We have eaten there several times. Food is the real thing; they even make their own bread and sauces. Grandmother and grandfather are there most nights keeping an eye on everything, making sure the recipes are like she makes them at home. Service is very good. Prices are very reasonable. ...WS

**** - Fontina Grille - King Farm - Dinner - 4/1/03

As a local Kingfarm resident we love having great places to dine that we can walk to.

Fontina Grille never dissappoints. The menu is varied. There are wonderful pastas, salads, fish, and pizzas. They also have a lovely kids menu with generous portions and a small ice cream to finish. The wait staff is competent but not very friendly. Our food has always been delicious and served quickly. We highly recommend this restaurant to any local or not so local diners. Dont forget Mondays are buy one pasta get one pasta for $2! ...SLF

**** - Fu Shing - Gaitherburg Square - many visits - Dinner

Our very favorite Chinese restaurant in the entire DC area! The service is incredibly quick after you place your order and pay at the counter. You are served at table with the most delicious, authentic Chinese dishes imaginable. Most of the time there's plenty to take home. We fight over who's going to get the leftovers! The ingredients are fresh, and the platters with generous portions are brought to the table steaming hot. The prices are fair and if you're a coupon clipper you can save a little on the total tab. Even though the dining room may look full and people may be waiting in the foyer, the wait is usually not long because the wait staff is very efficient. This said, we have never felt, however, that we were being rushed. I almost want to keep this restaurant a secret. ...AW

**** - Jaspers - Germantown - Dinner

Food is always great. Service is usually impeccable. Too bad they are so popular that at times you have to wait quite a while to be seated. ...TD

**** - O'Donnell's - Kentlands - Dinner -
April 30,2003

Three friends and I went to celebrate a birthday at O'Donnell's. I hadn't been there for quite a few years but was glad to see that nothing had changed. It was as good as ever. They still serve rum buns and cornbread muffins, happy to say. The crab cakes I had were light, tasty and chock full of crab. No filler in these beauties. All four of us enjoyed our meals and the chance to sit and talk without being rushed. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. The restaurant brought out a very nice cake for the birthday celebrant and we all got to have some. It was a nice end to a wonderful meal. ...AW

**** - O'Donnell's - Kentlands Square Shopping Center, Gaithersburg - Dinner - Summer 2002
Seafood is one of the main reasons my husband and I like to eat out. Finding good seafood isn't easy. Most places over cook seafood and you end up with flat tasting rubber. But at O'Donnell's you get the best of the best with real attention to cooking seafood the way it was meant to be served. The rum buns have been a feature of this restaurant for years and I was glad to see they still tasted as delicious as they did when I first went to the old restaurant in Bethesda. The newer restaurant in Gaithersburg is very nice and the atmosphere and seating allows you to actually have a conversation while your enjoying your meal. Service was wonderful. Not to fast and not too slow. Waiter was very attentive. ...BJ

**** - O'Donnells Seafood - Kentlands - Kentland Square Shopping Center, Gaithersburg, MD - Lunch - October 9, 2004
I was surfing the internet for a good seafood restaurant and decided to check out O'Donnell's. It was 14 of us and it was my sister's 51st birthday. None of us had been to the restaurant before. The service, the food and everything was first class. The fresh seafood was terrific, the buns and the bread was outstanding... everything was good and that's unusual. Nothing was bad. I plan to go again. The atmosphere was inviting and the restaurant cleaniness was #1. Thanks for such great service. ...BG

**** - Old Siam - East Diamond and Russel Avenues,Gaithersburg - Dinner - December 2003
The Old Siam restaurant, successor to Thai Tani at the same location, is one of the best Thai restaurants in Montgomery County (I think it is the best). All dishes are well-prepared, delicious, and artistically presented. The many appetizers are delicious and the entrees feature traditional Thai dishes of meats, seafood, poultry, noodles or curry are always excellent. The service is skilled and very pleasant, the atmosphere relaxed and quiet, the decor and ambiance elegant, and the prices are very reasonable. Favorite dishes are Thai Chicken with asparagus, green or red curry with your choice of meats or vegetarian, chicken satay, and spicy pork with eggplant. They will increase or decrease the "hot" factor at you request. Don't forget the desserts, especially the home made sorbet (pineapple sorbet served in a pineapple shell, for example). Prices are moderate and the food is delicious. ...BL

**** - Peking Eastern House - Gaithersburg,617 S. Frederick Ave. - Dinner - 5/21/2005
Best "Mandarin" cuisine since I left Los Angeles. Recipes are perfect in proportions, texture, seasoning, and quality and authenticity of ingredients. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable (especially for here!), menu is expansive and richly varied. Staff is skilled and attentive, decor is imaginative and charming. ...GF

**** - Pelican Pete's - Germantown - Dinner

**** - Peperonata Pasta - Kentlands - 8/27/03-Dinner - Peperonata is a fresh pasta place - you can get ready to cook pasta or frozen meals or cooked meals to eat there. The pasta we had on 8/27 was Capellini (we got the pasta and some meat sauce and made it at home). It was so tender and fresh and made a simple spectacular meal. We have also gotten the Ravioli and the lasagna - all of which are excellent. The breakfast pastries are also quite good. ...JE

**** - RED ROBIN - Lake Forest Mall - At least one time a week - lunch or dinner - 2004
I love that restaurant because they have a fast service, they give you more options about how you want your meal. It's cheap, easy, and they have a delicious cold beer. My favorite meal it's crispy chiken salad with honey mostard dressing. ...ST

**** - Red Robin - Lake Forest Mall and Germantown - Lunch - 8/22/03

Red Robin is a great place to take your family for a fun and delicious lunch. The starters are great, clucks and fries is a big basket of chicken fingers and french fries. You can also get the tower of onion rings which is brought out on a huge stick with each onion ring getting smaller and smaller the closer it is to the top of the tower. The kids think this is cool! The burgers here are awesome! Our favorite part is that you can substitute a Boca burger or a meatless patty(not sure what that is exactly) for any of their signature burger combos. We always get a BBQ Boca burger and it does not dissapoint. One of the best things about the Red Robin burger is that it is neatly wrapped up and is easy to eat without making a mess. Unlimited fries come with all the burgers and these fries are great! The kids menu is extensive. The kids can choose from chicken, pizza, spaghetti, grilled cheese, corn dogs, burger, or mac and cheese. Fries come with most of these and if the kids dont want fries you can order slices of cantalope (YUM!!). The milkshakes and malts are great here too! The prices are similar to other burger joints but the food tastes much better! Also, the staff is incredibly friendly and caring. They work hard to please you and make sure you enjoy your meal. Give this restaurant a try next time you are at the mall or in Germantown. ...SLF

**** - Redrock Canyon Grill - 100 Boardwalk Place - Rio -Gaithersburg, MD. - MAY 2005 -
In case you haven't made to Redrock Canyon Grill, let me tell you how great it is!! We had dinner there last night to celebrate my sister's birthday. We were a party of 5 adults and we all had excellent meals. The appetizers were great as well. The steaks were done just right and may I suggest the tenderloin with gorgonzola cheese and cabernet sauce. The crabcakes were also excellent and my husband really liked the chicken. The red mashed potatoes were too peppery for my sister, but I thought they were excellent!! The service was great. They have a team approach so you can ask anyone for anything and they are more than happy to get it for you. We definitely plan to go back again. ...BJ

**** - Sakura - Germantown,corner of Middlebrook Rd and 355 - Dinner

I am not a food critic but I will do my best to express my opinion about our recent visit to Sakura restaurant. After a week of being snowed in and minor crisis, such as our family being stranded out of town and finally flew into town we wanted to celebrate our safe journey home and being together.

We decided Sakura would be the place to do that. The only hesitation was, would they accommodate a two-month-old baby, being that we would be seated in a table where the chef cooks our food and perform his flame the grill routine etc. Of course, they do offers family dining atmosphere. What I like about Sakura is the casual yet elegant style and the staffs are always so gracious and accommodating. The food was delicious as always with the same simplicity of Japanese dining. What makes them different than other Japanese restaurants we have been to, is the easy way the menu is set up with the meal laid out for us. It's spelled out how many courses we will get and the chef prepares and presents it in a very entertaining ways so we can eat and enjoy his company without even realizing when our meal was done and time for dessert, which we declined because there just was not enough room in our belly. I had the Filet Mignon, shrimp and scallop with chicken liver appetizer and fried rice, my family chose the filet mignons and N.Y. steak, which were all good. The steaks were tender at any temperatures and the scallops and shrimps were tender and all in all our experience were excellent. ...KM

**** - Sushi Chalet - Gaithersburg (Festival Shopping Centetr)- Dinner

Excellant selection of sushi( over 30 ), Stir-fry & tradition dishes. Best of all, it is an "all-you-can-eat" buffet. Price per person is $17.95. Service is very friendly. ...RC

**** - Thai Jasmine Bistro - Gaithersburg, MD,16533 So. Frederick Ave. - Dinner - Aug. 04 & 22 Oct. 04
This restaurant is a wonderful new addition to those who like (love, in my case) Thai food. It's located in the Walnut Hill Shopping Center (near Food Lion). It's a cozy, but well-appointed place with nice touches of Thai artwork. Both meals that I've had were very good and the service is quick and attentive. The price range is reasonable, too. ...AW

**** - The Nibbler - Gaithersburg(Air Park) - Dinner

Everything is excellent at this charming little Peruvian hideaway. In the cold weather, we especially like the hot, hearty "Tallarin Saltado," sauteed pasta with beef, tomatoes, red onions and scallions--the South American equivalent of Chinese beef Lo Mein. An appetizer not to be missed are the scrumptious

"Llapingachos," two pan-fried mashed-potato cakes filled with steaming hot melted cheese, garnished with iceberg lettuce, wedges of plum tomato and avocado, hardboiled egg, and a black olive. A second favorite entree is the "Lomo Saltado," fried beef, onions, tomatoes and fresh-chopped cilantro over white rice and crispy french fries. The Nibbler's huge bowl of black bean soup is the best around, and don't miss the caramel-filled coconut cookies for dessert. The prices are very reasonable, the staff is efficient and friendly, and this tiny hole-in-the-wall cafe with its larger-than-life murals of a Peruvian village is well worth a trip to the Gaithersburg airpark area. ...N&A

**** Tandoori Nights - Dinner - Kentlands - May 10, 2003
We went as a party of 4 to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere is very unique. I have not seen an Indian restaurant with a trendy and western setting. It also has a bar, which is another unique experience in an Indian restaurant. ....AX

****Vasilis Mediterranean Grill - Gaithersburg - 8371 Snouffer School Road - Dinner - 1/10/2004 - This is our favorite "regular" restaurant. The food is always served hot. Lambchops and roasted potatoes are a favorite. The moussaka is delicious and the portions are HUGE. The salads are crisp and fresh. The desserts -- especially the almond cookie that I can never remember the name of -- are heavenly.

We love to take a loaf of Vasili's bread home with us. It makes wonderful french toast.

But absolutely the best thing about Vasili's is the friendly welcome you receive when you walk through the door. Everyone is made to feel like a regular.

****Vasilis Mediterranean Grill - Gaithersburg - 8371 Snouffer School Road - Dinner - 7/6/03
I love this place! The ambience is very nice. The wait staff is attentive and competent. Each and every entree I've had has been wonderful. Everything from the gyro platter to the roasted leg of lamb has been excellent. I often get one of their specials and each and every one has been excellent. I particularly liked the crab stuffed shrimp. The salads are also excellent. They always accomodate my modifications to the salad. The appetizers are very good. I love the spanokopita and saganaki. I wasn't very fond of the melitsanosalata or taramosalata. The bread and deserts are both excellent. The baklava and galactoboureko are both rich and wonderful. If you want something lighter try the kourambiethes, it's a great sort of almond cookie. ...JS

**** - Ziki Japanese Steak House - Dinner - Multiple times - 10009 Fields Road, Washingtonion Center - Gaithersburg, Maryland

We sat at the hibatchi tables so the food was very fresh! The flavors were wonderful and you get a great show at the same time. It is very entertaining and great food. This would be a great first date because you sit near many other people and the cook is grea to break the ice! I recommend it to everyone and anyone! ...LR
